Position: Assistant Professor
Email:
My name is Dr. Peter van Ruitenbeek and I work as an assistant professor. That means I teach and do research at the faculty of psychology and neuroscience. In the past, I have worked on the role of histamine in cognition (PhD degree in 2009), dopamine in frontal cortex functioning, and age-related decline in sensorimotor performance. Since 2016 my teaching and research activities are driven by my interest in the biological explanation of human behaviour, with a special focus on the neuroscience of addiction. My aim is to figure out how we can help people with any type of addiction by preventing relapse.
